January 

What: The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity: Grand Finale fundraiser,

Where: Warsaw, Poland

Start 2024 off on a positive note by supporting a worthwhile cause at the 32nd annual Grand Finale fundraiser, hosted by The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity. Celebrations will be held at Poland’s national stadium — PGE Narodowy, which is only a 10-minute taxi ride from Safestay Warsaw Old Town. There will be live musical performances, a dazzling light show, a slew of fun activities and sports challenges, and a televised auction. February 

What: Jorvik Viking Festival

Where: York, England

When: 12 - 18 February 2024

At the Jorvik Viking Festival you’ll be transported back to the time of York’s Viking rule, which lasted for more than 100 years after the town was invaded in 866AD. The week-long event offers visitors a packed programme for all ages. March

What: Prague Easter Market at Náměstí Míru (Peace Square)

Where: Prague, Czechia

When: 15 March to 1 April

This is a great time to visit the Czech Republic’s capital (which is also home to the largest castle complex in the world!). Every year, thousands flock to Prague’s parade of Easter markets to sample traditional cuisine and buy from local businesses. The closest market to Safestay’s Prague Charles Bridge location — which has a private courtyard, a games room and a rooftop terrace — is at Náměstí Míru (Peace Square). You can use this as your starting point before venturing over to the bigger markets at Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square. Find out more here


April

What: Olympic flame lighting 

Where: Athens, Greece

When: 16 April

Immerse yourself in the pomp and circumstance of the Olympic flame lighting ceremony at the first leg of the torch relay, held at Ancient Olympia. The historic event will be televised worldwide, as a group of ‘priestesses’ light the fire that will burn until the games conclude on 11 August. The ceremony is free to attend, and all ages are welcome. What: The Santo Antonio Festival

This proud and vibrant celebration is held in remembrance of Saint Antony, the capital’s patron saint, and reaches its peak on the evening of 12 June. The La Mercè Festival dates back to 1902 and celebrates the Patron Saint of Barcelona, Mare de Deu de la Mercè.
