Safestay Expands Across Europe with New Openings in Cordoba, Calpe, Edinburgh, and Brighton

Safestay, a British brand known for its great-value hostels and hotels across the UK and Europe, is thrilled to announce a series of new openings across Cordoba, Calpe, Edinburgh, and Brighton. This strategic expansion throughout 2024 underscores Safestay's commitment to enhancing its presence in prime European locations and providing travellers with unmatched experiences in the heart of some of Europe’s most vibrant cities.

Safestay announced its first management agreement with the upcoming opening of Safestay Calpe Seafront. Opening on 1 September 2024, this 120-bed hostel is ideally located, being a short walk from Arenal-Bol beach and a 45-minute drive from Alicante Airport. The Calpe Seafront is located on Spain’s Mediterranean coast near the iconic Peñón de Ifach rock and on the opposite side of Salt Lake in Torrevieja. Safestay Calpe is perfect for exploring Calpe’s outdoor activities, including sailing, climbing, hiking, and cycling.

Also debuting this summer is Safestay Cordoba Mezquita Catedral. This recently acquired property, which used to be a Hotel Lineros, is undergoing a comprehensive rebranding and conversion process. The 30-room hotel will be transformed into a 100-bed hostel featuring Safestay’s signature 4-6-bed dorm rooms and private family rooms.  Special care is being taken to preserve the property’s traditional Moorish architecture and captivating Moroccan features, including its atrium courtyard, roof terrace, marble sinks, and richly decorated wooden window shutters.

This location is in the heart of historic Cordoba and is just a short walk from the famous La Mezquita mosque. Safestay Cordoba will offer affordable accommodations for the over 1.5 million annual visitors to the city. This new addition joins hostels in Calpe, Madrid, and two in Barcelona, bringing Safestay’s total number of hostels in Spain to five.

On 5 June, Safestay Edinburgh Cowgate opened its doors, expanding the brand's UK portfolio to five properties. Housed in a beautiful and spacious Grade A listed building on one of Edinburgh's oldest and liveliest thoroughfares, Safestay Edinburgh has undergone a million-pound renovation. The hostel features plentiful communal spaces, a café, a bar, an outdoor terrace. It has 225 beds in various room combinations, from eight-bed dorms to two-bed private rooms with ensuite facilities. Located within walking distance of popular attractions such as the Royal Mile, Edinburgh Castle, Arthur’s Seat, and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Safestay Edinburgh Cowgate is a convenient and affordable choice for tour groups, friends, and independent travellers.

Additionally, Safestay has announced the acquisition of a historic Grade II listed building in Brighton. Located just 600 meters from the seafront and opposite the Royal Pavilion, this property will be transformed into a 220-bed Safestay hostel, set to open in Spring 2025.

Safestay’s expansion into Spain and the UK, its commitment to exciting partnerships, and further announcements expected throughout 2024, reaffirm Safestay 's position as Europe’s leading hostel group. As Safestay expands across Europe, it remains dedicated to providing unmatched value, comfort, and adventure to travellers seeking unforgettable experiences in vibrant locations.
