Cugó Gran in Menorca is working with leading Nutritionist and Author, Jeannette Hyde, to host a series of exclusive health and wellbeing retreats in 2016. Leading lifestyle PR agency Pilot PR finds out more.
‘The Gut Makeover Retreat’ at Cugó Gran is inspired by The Gut Makeover (published by Quercus Books, out 31st December 2015), a cutting-edge eating plan designed to restore digestive health for optimal weight as well as physical, emotional and mental balance.
A regular media and BBC commentator, Jeannette is at the forefront of her field in developing an accessible way to rebuild the microbiome (gut flora and balance) and her book, 'The Gut Makeover', is the culmination of that.
“There is a revolution happening right now in the nutrition world. Recent discoveries from leading researchers show that the state of our gut is central to our weight and health. So, if we want to look and feel good for the long term, we need a diet that creates a high-performance digestive system. We have entered the gut-health era of diet and nutrition, and it will be here for a long time,” says Jeannette Hyde.
To promote total relaxation, which contributes to digestive health, The Gut Makeover Retreat is set in the exquisite and luxurious surroundings of the private 250-acre estate of Cugó Gran, a new full-service luxury villa, providing the services of a five-star hotel including chef, butler, housemaids, driver, events co-ordinator, and house manager. The facilities include a 26-metre outdoor heated pool, a barbecue area, terraces for outdoor dining, a gym and massage treatment room.
The Gut Makeover Retreat will accommodate a maximum of 22 guests in 11 bedrooms. Cugó Gran’s stunning interiors are influenced by the Mediterranean; the aesthetic is pared-back luxury with a focus on sumptuous beds and linens. Pale fabrics and floors are accentuated by splashes of colour from baskets of fresh local lemons to bouquets of flowers and herbs picked from the estate's own lavender fields, greenhouses and herb gardens.
During The Gut Makeover Retreat, Jeannette will share her immense experience and nutritional knowledge with guests and will work closely with Cugó Gran’s Head Chef to devise delicious, gut-friendly meals inspired by vibrant and diverse real Mediterranean cuisine. All the ingredients used are of the highest quality and locally-sourced where possible, many of them originating from Cugó Gran’s own kitchen and herb gardens.
Mental and physical balance will be further enhanced through individual and group Pilates sessions with Bernadette Phillips who has worked with a host of celebrity clients to help them achieve their goals. Bernadette is particularly known for her sport-performance focused method, which helps people improve flexibility, core strength, and posture, and to recover from injuries. She will run both individual and group Pilates sessions with guests at Cugó Gran.
While there will be an emphasis on not doing too much and relaxing as much as possible, guests can take part in other activities; these include spa treatments and yoga sessions, gut-friendly picnics and boat trips visiting some of Menorca's most beautiful caves and beaches. Guests can also take walks, bike or horse ride along the many beautiful sections of the famous Camí de Cavalls - an ancient path which encircles the island.
The seven-night retreats will take place on the following weeks in 2016:
April 22nd – 29th June 17th – 24th
October 7th – 14th November 11th – 18th
