Cugó Gran, a full-service luxury villa sleeping up to 22 guests in 11 en-suite bedrooms, has opened in Menorca.
Situated in a 250-acre estate in the countryside just outside San Climent, Cugó Gran is the culmination of years of meticulous renovation of an old Menorcan farmhouse with exceptional attention to detail. With breath-taking 180° sea views with Mallorca on the horizon, it is located just 10 minutes by car from Menorca Airport and 15 minutes from the capital, Mahón.
The property features seven bedrooms in the main house with two on the ground floor, four on the first flour and one suite on the top floor. The remaining four bedrooms are located in the adjoining Boyera guesthouse (former stables); all of these rooms are on ground level and a short walk from the main house.
With interiors influenced by the Mediterranean, the atheistic is pared back luxury with a focus on sumptuous beds and linens. Pale fabrics and floors are accentuated by splashes of colour from baskets of fresh local lemons to bouquets of flowers and herbs picked from the estate's own lavender fields, greenhouses and herb gardens.
Cugó Gran is staffed with its own in-house concierge team which includes a House Manager, an Assistant Manager, an Events Coordinator, a Chef, a Butler, Hostesses and Housemaids.
A member of staff is on-site 24/7 and a car and driver is available to guests daily. Qualified nannies, personal trainers, nutritionists, therapists, yoga and Pilates instructors can also be arranged.
Facilities at Cugó Gran include a 26-metre outdoor heated pool, a barbecue area, terraces for outdoor dining, a gym and massage treatment room. The property is fully air-conditioned and has under floor heating for the cooler months.
For children, there is an outdoor play area, hand-built tree house and swings, giant Jenga, outdoor chess, and a croquet lawn to keep the adults entertained as well.
At the heart of Cugó Gran is inspirational Mediterranean cuisine. Head Chef Alexander Langley has extensive experience cooking for private households, and has previously worked at Whatley Manor and The Box Tree, as well as with CK Verbier. All the ingredients are of the highest quality and locally sourced where possible.
The wide selection of fine wines and spirits also includes wine from the neighbouring Sa Forana Estate incorporating grapes from Cugó Gran’s own vineyard. Cugó Gran also has a range of signature cocktails curated by Georgi Radev, the Head Bartender at Mahiki in London, and ‘Bartender of the Year 2015’ at the London Club and Bar Awards. Inspired by and incorporating ingredients grown on the Cugó Gran Estate, signature cocktails include the ‘Verbenito’, an infusion of local Xoriguer Gin, freshly squeezed Cugó limes, homemade sugar syrup and lemon Verbena leaves served in a highball with crushed ice; and the ‘Cugollini’ which comprises homemade blueberry and lavender sorbet and cava, served in a champagne glass with an orchid decoration.
Offering luxurious accommodation for big family gatherings and groups of friends, Cugó Gran is also a stylish venue for events. The team at Cugó Gran can organize everything from meetings and weddings, to activities such as yacht charters, beach picnics, guided walking and cycling tours, and wine and gin tastings.
Cugó Gran is managed by Toby Thornton and Tamsin Adlington who have over a decade of working at the most exclusive end of the hospitality industry. Toby has worked as a Private Chef, Butler and Personal Assistant to private clients in London, the Mediterranean and the Caribbean. His experience ranges from managing families, as well as corporate groups, to owning his own restaurant in Menorca. Toby has been coming to the island for over 30 years and has extensive knowledge of Menorca and all that it has to offer. Tamsin worked as a Private PA in Chelsea, London, and for ten years in marketing prior to that. She was International Marketing Manager for Clarks International and also worked with the Sky Ride Cycling events team for BSKyB.
Prices for a minimum three night stay start from €18,250. This includes breakfast every day, two lunches, two dinners, airport transfers (a short drive away) and a driver from 8.00am to Midnight each day. Drinks are not included.
